In Search of Real Intelligence
Much has been written about the promise and peril of AI. There is always a reluctance to embrace what is new, sometimes out of fear, sometimes out of ignorance. Then we reach a tipping point, and we fully embrace the new. Institutions of higher education see such an embrace as a way to be on the cutting edge and therefore attract more students. History teaches us that advances in technology lead to eras of growth, prosperity, and ingenuity. Surely there are abuses and misuses (think splitting the atom), but we seem to find a way forward. We find that way forward because humans exert control.
